One of our goals at
SeeIndianLake.net is to provide residents and visitors with the most
complete and accurate history of Indian Lake as possible. We are working
diligently to gather information to provide an educational and
entertaining account of the development of Indian Lake - From the first
settlers to the Million Dollar Playground to the resort and residential
area we enjoy today.
Much of this has been accomplished
with the assistance of local historian Robert MacDonald of Russells Point.
Mr. MacDonald has resided in the area for nearly 70 years and has
documented much of that time span in words and pictures. He has graciously
agreed to share his collection with us so that we may bring you a
pictorial history as well as written.
The power
boat races attracted thousands to the shores of Indian Lake for several
years.
The staff also wishes to
acknowledge the invaluable contributions of the late Marie Fults of
Lakeview and thank the Fults family for their continued support in this
ongoing project. Mrs. Fults provided us with much of the history of
Lakeview in both photos and personal knowledge for which we are deeply
grateful.
Special thanks as well to the
Bellefontaine Examiner, the Logan County Historical Society and
Larry Shafer of Lakeview for their contributions to the preservation of
Indian Lake history through the gift of photos and documentation.
As information becomes available,
more history will be added. Contact the
Webmaster or
Editor if you have
information or photos that we may add to this site.
